WP Buffs Writer Guidelines

A simple guide for contributing to the WP Buffs blog.

Thanks for your interest in writing for WP Buffs. We want the process to be straightforward, so these guidelines are here to help you prepare a useful, accurate, and easy-to-read article.

What we're looking for

We’re looking for practical content that helps WordPress users, website owners, freelancers, agencies, and other people working in the WordPress space.

You don’t need to cover any of these topics exactly, but your article should be relevant to the WP Buffs audience and give readers something useful to take away.

Length

As a general guide, we’re looking for quality pieces in the 1,000-1,500 word range or longer when the topic needs more detail. There’s no need to add filler to make an article longer. Cover the topic properly, then stop when the piece feels complete.

Formatting

Please structure your article so it is easy to scan and edit. Use a clear heading hierarchy throughout the draft.

Avoid using headings only for styling. Heading levels should match the article’s structure.

Images and screenshots

This is important: every image you submit must have a clear source, and you must have permission to use it.

Articles submitted to WP Buffs should be original and written for WP Buffs. The same piece should not already have been published elsewhere.
If we cannot confirm an image’s source or whether we can use it legally, we may remove or replace it before publication.

Original and exclusive content

Articles submitted to WP Buffs should be original and written for WP Buffs. The same piece should not already have been published elsewhere.

Accuracy and links

Writers are responsible for checking the accuracy of their work before submitting it.

Keep it useful, not promotional

It’s fine to mention a tool, service, company, or product when it genuinely helps explain the topic. The article itself should still be written to help the reader, not as an advertisement.

Writing style

Keep the writing clear, friendly, and practical. You can sound like yourself. We would rather read something natural and useful than something overly formal.

Editing and revisions

We may make edits for clarity, formatting, accuracy, consistency, or readability before publication. We may also reach out with questions or request reasonable revisions if something needs more detail or clarification.

Before you submit

A quick final check:
If you’re unsure about something before submitting your draft, ask us. We’d rather clarify it early than have you redo a section later.

Finally, thank you for taking the time to contribute to WP Buffs! We’re looking forward to publishing your article.

Finally, get your website 99.9999% secure and loading in under 1 second.
