No! We’ll work with any website regardless of where it's hosted.

 

We understand that different websites have different needs and that people have realistic budgets that they have to meet.

 

That being said, we may not be able to achieve your speed and security goals on a shared hosting provider. If you'd like to upgrade, we have a great list of recommend and trusted hosting partners.

Once you sign up for the care plan that makes the most sense for you, you'll receive a welcome email with information on your plan and details about how to securely send us your login credentials.

 

Once you send login information for your WordPress dashboard and hosting provider, we'll have your plan fully implemented in 24-48 hours. This includes a 200+ item checklist to get your website fully optimized.

 

The speed enhancements can take up to a week since we have to optimize everything for your unique core files, theme and plugins and we want to be careful not to cause any downtime for your website. So we take our time and make sure this is done right instead of risking potentially compromising your website.

 

And of course, we'll keep you updated with our work as it happens via email. We make the whole process totally transparent!

 

You can expect to receive your first weekly report the first Monday after you sign up with us. If you sign up over the weekend, we may send your first report the next Monday to make sure we have everything ready before reporting back to you.

No problem! We can manage websites for you whether you're running 1 or 10.

 

Our care plans each cover one single site, domain, subdomain or WordPress installation. If you have multiple sites as subdomains of a site (e.g. wpbuffs.com and subdomain.wpbuffs.com) they still count as separate sites. If you have 3 websites that you'd like us to manage, you'll need 3 plans, one for each site.

 

You are more than welcome to choose different plans for each website depending on the needs of each individual site.

 

We've set up our pricing structure to stay pretty lean and with our global team, it just makes more sense to handle all our support through email and livechat.

We get a lot of questions about our unlimited edits. But it's true! Unlimited really means unlimited when it comes to the edits we provide. We don't like to nickel and dime people, so we just ask them to pay for their monthly subscription and we provide the technical support. Easy.

If you need us to provide edits to your website, you'll need to upgrade to our Protect Plan or Perform Plan. We're not big fans of one-time edits since we want to work with people who understand their website is a work in progress and want a technical partner who can help them continue to move forward. Plus, when it comes to security and website speed, one-time changes are simply not effective. We want to provide ongoing support to get your WordPress site fast and secure, then keep it that way.

Yes! We fully manage WordPress websites, including everything in your WordPress ecosystem. If updates are causing conflict issues, we'll reach out to plugin and theme companies directly to help fix the core issue so you don't have to. If your hosting company's server goes down for any reason, we'll hop on live chat to help them assess and fix the issue so you don't have to wait in a queue for 30 minutes.

 

At the end of the day, WP Buffs fully manages WordPress websites so you won't every have to worry about a technical website issue again!

We get a lot of questions about response and resolution times here at WP Buffs! Here's the most honest answer we can give you - it depends on the ticket. Here's how it works:

 

  1. When you email a support ticket in you will receive an automated response right away, if it is submitted correctly into our system.
  2. Within 1-4 hours you will receive a response email from a Buff that we have opened the ticket, we are looking at the complexity of it and will let you know when it has been resolved.
  3. Within 24-48 hours you will receive a resolution email with the changes made on that ticket.

 

If the ticket is complex and the Buffs need more time, they will let you know if it is outside of that 48 hour window. Communication is key here with response and resolution times, we've got your back!

We do offer custom development as a supplement to our ongoing care plans. If you have a larger project that requires custom work and is outside the scope of our care plans, we're happy to do it as an addition to our ongoing maintenance of your website.

 

Custom development is $100/hr. You'll detail the project to our technical team and we'll give you an accurate estimate for how much time it takes. We'll start working only once you give us the green light to move forward.

Our team is distributed, meaning we work from around the globe! Our core team is local to the US while some of our employees are international and work remotely. This gives us the ability to provide 24/7 service. If your website crashes at 3am on a Sunday morning, someone on our team will be notified within 1 minute, the issue will be addressed and your site will be back up immediately.

This is an absolute requirement for everybody we hire on our support team no matter where in the world they're from! We only provide support in English for the time being so vetting English language skills during our hiring process is a huge focus.

That being said, small mistakes do happen. We're all only human! But overall, everyone on our team has a strong grasp of the English language and with tools like Grammarly for additional support, all the 24/7 support we provide is professional, effective and has our flare of personality!

We partner with iThemes to bring premium WordPress security to your website! Get started with our Protect Plan or Perform Plan and we’ll implement the plugin and optimize it for your unique site to give you the best possible coverage.

 

We'll also implement additional security across your WordPress dashboard and server as needed. These security measures are unique for every website we work with, which means a customized solution for everybody.

Malware is a serious issue for any website, and the great news is that anyone on our Perform Plan (or higher plan, such as Custom Plan) get malware removal included in their plans.

 

Our team of experts will scan the site, clear out all malware and check the site for any vulnerable areas such as outdated themes and/or plugins with known vulnerabilities.

 

After malware has been cleaned up, our team will create a security setup to harden your website to protect against future attacks.

We have plenty of automated tools that will check the status of your website(s). They actually ping your website(s) every minute of every day.

These pings simply check to make sure your site isn't giving a 400/500 error

🚀 WordPress speed

Through hours of manual optimization and premiium plugins offered for free under our care plans, we achieve sites fast enough to have a significant positive impact on the websites we manage.

During onboarding, our team does a full audit of your website and hosting environment. This allows us to create and execute a unique plan for your website to significantly lower loading time.

We also keep your website fast on an ongoing basis. Getting your website to load quickly is one thing, but keeping it loading fast over the long-term is a real game-changer.

We also partner with premium plugins WP Rocket and WP Smush Pro to give you free access to both plugins under your care plan. This bring premium caching and image compression to your websites.

While our goal is always to achieve loading times of under 1 second, we never make any blanket promises when it comes to loading times of the websites we manage. Anybody who makes promises like this is simply trying to sell you on their services and get you to swipe your credit card sooner rather than later.

This being said, the majority of the websites we manage load in under 2 seconds, which is the recommended loading time to hit according to Google.

Every website is different, and depending on certain aspects of the website, it may be impossible to achieve loading time under 2 seconds! For example, if your website is on shared hosting (alongside 20,000 other websites) and has 20 Google Ads serving external content, chances are your website will be slow. 

But if you take our speed engineers' advice, ensure your website is on appropriate hosting and do a great job balancing marketing & growth needs with minimalist speed optimization techniques, achieving loading times under 2 seconds should be no problem.

We sure can! We partner with multiple hosting providers who we've worked with closely over the years.

 

 

We manage multiple websites with each of our preferred hosting providers so we can vouch for their hosting quality, customer support and focus on speed.

 

Most importantly, all our preferred hosts provide free migrations for signing up with them. 

 

 

Our team will be happy to recommend the hosting provider who we think will best fit your websites' specific needs (including wanting the site to load faster). Once you sign up with your new hosting provider, we'll work with them and you to oversee your migration. Their migration team will execute the migration but our team will ensure everything moves over smoothly with no downtime.

 

 

Once the migration is complete, we'll take over management of your hosting environment for optimization to make sure your website is maximizing it's new, fast server!

We only provide speed optimization services for people who want to make their website faster and keep it that way over the long-term.

 

One-time speed optimization may help your website load faster now, but as your site continues to change over the following weeks and months, the site will slow down again unless someone is continually optimizing the site for speed.

 

We partner with folks to manage their website speed not just for today and tomorrow, but for the forceable future. 

 

While we don't recommend purchasing one-time speed optimization, if you do decide to go with this option, we'd recommend downloading our speed optimization eBook and working with someone (maybe a freelancer) to do everything we do to speed up websites.

🔄 WordPress updates

There are a few reasons for this:

 

  • Sometimes plugin updates are released with bugs. Updating less frequently allows the plugin developer to get rid of these bugs before we add them to your WordPress site.
  • Batching more updates together means an easier manual review. That in turn means a lower probability that something bad will happen or break your website.
  • We'll be doing all these updates on the weekend when most websites receive less traffic. That means a safer environment and minimal issues for your visitors.

 

We always make an exception for more major plugin updates, such as WooCommerce. When major updates come out for this, we'll make the updates far more slowly to ensure that your website remains running smoothly without any hiccups.

Yes, we sure do! Our team fully manages both production and staging sites under our Perform Plan. If your website has advanced functionality, we'll do all plugin, theme and core file updates on your staging server. Once everything has been updated successfully, we'll push those changes to your live site to avoid any downtime.

If the theme is custom-built, highly customized or the site is using any custom plugins, it would require a Custom Plan.

 

If a theme was developed/built especially for your business and the website does not use an existing or prebuilt theme as a base then you will need a Custom Plan. If your website includes functionality that was built especially for your website and was not implemented using existing plugins then you will need a Custom Plan.

We focus on technical support for your WordPress website - we aren't SEO experts. That being said, we often work alongside SEO teams to help implement technical tasks relating to your SEO. Some typical tasks might include:

 

  • Adding metadata
  • Updating title tags and page titles
  • Adding blog post content

 

SEO is a long term challenge. We always recommend working with an SEO team who can fully review your site and help you achieve your website goals. If you're looking for an SEO agency to work with, we recommend Yoast SEO Consulting or Pathfinder SEO.

If you're looking for a no-headache hosting partner, We do recommend you take advantage of the free migration offered by our trusted WordPress hosting partners. We can’t always improve website speed for our customers who need it when they’re running on a very slow shared server, so in that case we might recommend an upgrade.

 

Our partners' plans are a step up from shared servers that limit your resources and sacrifice both speed and security. They've got your back!

We will keep your website with it's current hosting provider if you don't want to make the move. We do offer our hand-picked WordPress hosting partners as the perfect option if you're not happy with your current host and are looking for a hosting partner who will take the lead here. Of course! We urge everybody to start with a monthly plan so you can get to know us and how we work. Handing over the keys to your website is a big deal so our highest priority is to build a strong relationship with you.

Once you've worked with us for a bit and know how awesome we are, you can take advantage of our discounted pricing and move over to a yearly plan anytime. Just email us or hop into livechat and we'll make it happen. It's that easy.

We work best when we're your primary technical partner when it comes to WordPress. That way we can ensure all changes made to the site are done following our rigorous procedures. So we prefer to be the only team making technical changes to your website(s).

 

That being said, we know many websites have multiple users doing many different things in the backend. We enjoy working with many websites to make things even easier for everybody with dashboard access so feel free to schedule a call with our team to figure out how we can manage your websites and make it even easier for multiple users to all be working hard in the dashboard at once!

We understand that business needs change. That's why our monthly care plans are flexible and can be cancelled. They are monthly rolling subscriptions.

 

We start providing services from day 1, so for that reason, our monthly care plans are non refundable.

 

If you opt for a yearly subscription and need to cancel part way through your year, we're happy to talk to you about a partial refund. 

 

If a yearly plan is cancelled part way through the subscription we'll charge you only for the months you've used (at our full monthly care plan rate) and we'll refund the remainder of your paid amount.

If you join our white-label program, the same goes for all the clients you sign up for white-label care plans.

Unfortunately, we can't continue servicing websites that are no longer covered under our care plans.

 

If you decide to cancel your WP Buffs subscription, you'll lose access to our license to be able to run the plugin.

 

If you decide to cancel your WP Buffs subscription, you're more than welcome to continue using any of these premium plugins by purchasing your own copy of the plugin.

You sure can! In fact, we've got tons of tutorials and guides on our blog to help you speed up and secure your own WordPress site.

WP Buffs isn't for everybody and we're cool with that. But we've been optimizing plugin configurations, hosting environments and WordPress websites for years and we're pretty damn good at it.
